Albania is a former Communist country located in eastern Europe and the home of Adil Hoxha.

History

After the conclusion of World War II, Albania was taken over by Communism and was part of the Eastern Bloc in Europe. In the late 1980s, the Communist government was attempting to learn the secrets of the USA's nuclear technology. To that end, they sent a child spy named Adil Hoxha to Springfield to learn all he could about Springfield Nuclear Power Plant and send the information back to the Albanian government.

Adil went to the United States as part of the foreign exchange student program, arriving in Springfield on a regular commercial flight. His mission was a success, as Adil obtained a great deal of information (including blueprints) about the nuclear plant from an unwitting Homer Simpson. Adil also persuaded Homer to give him a tour of the plant, and during the tour Adil took many photos of the plant's equipment. He then sent all of the information back to his superiors in Albania. However, the radio and fax transmissions attracted the attention of the FBI, and Adil was caught when they traced the source to the Simpson home. Rather than being punished, Adil was deported from the United States and exchanged for an American child spy who had been caught in Albania[1].

After the fall of Communism, Albania competed in the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada[2].
