Alex Désert (pronounced Dez-air) (born July 18, 1968) is an American actor, voice actor and musician. He is best known for the portrayals of Julio Mendez in The Flash (1990-1991) and Jake Malinak in Becker (1998-2004), as well as doing the voice-over for Nick Fury in The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes (2010-2013).
In The Simpsons, he became the newest current voice actor of Carl Carlson and Lou. He made his debut in the Season 32 premiere episode, "Undercover Burns", replacing Hank Azaria.
In addition to his acting career, Désert is one of the lead singers in Hepcat, a ska/reggae band that has toured the United States and Europe with bands such as The Mighty Mighty Bosstones and The Specials. Having released four albums, Hepcat's exposure has included national magazine features and an appearance on Late Night with Conan O’Brien. He also lends his vocal talents to the Los Angeles-based reggae collective The Lions.
Along with live-action acting, he has voiced many characters for video games, such as Bwonsamdi in World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth (2018) and World of Warcraft: Shadowlands (2020), Sorlag in Quake Champions (2017), and Farvhan the Draemer in Artifact (2018).
