Alphonse is Krusty the Clown's ventriloquist dummy. Due to its gruesome appearance and poor condition, its jaw broke onto Krusty's lap, its head was accidentally broken by Krusty, and it was thrown into the audience by Krusty, all of which scared most of the young audience (One of them coincidentially is akin to Bart Simpson), much to Bart's dismay.
