The American Spy is a boy who is a spy for the American Government, and is sent to Albania in order to spy on the Communists. He is found arrested, and the Americans agree to swap him for Adil Hoxha, an Albanian spy in America. They were familiar with each other, as evidenced by his greeting to Adil when disembarking and explicitly referring to him by his alias of "Sparrow".
