Arby's is a 1964 fast food restaurant chain in the U.S., known for roast beef, turkey, and premium Angus meat sandwiches, as well as the Jamocha shake. The franchise has a history in The Simpsons for being constantly ridiculed in running gags.

History[]

In the episode "Das Bus," the members of Springfield Elementary's Model U.N. Club were stranded on an island in the middle of nowhere. There was no food on the island but poisonous berries, so Sherri said that she is "so hungry she could eat at Arby's". It then caused other children to gasp.

When Santa's Little Helper became a new mascot of Duff Beer in the episode "Old Yeller-Belly," he started appearing in various beer commercials. In one, he was showed partying with some young women. While watching the ad, Lisa questioned why a dog would have human girlfriends. Marge told her that people do crazy things in ads, "like eat at Arby's".

In "A Milhouse Divided," when Kirk Van Houten separated from his wife Luann and was living in an apartment, he proposed disposing of a dead opossum by throwing it over the fence into Arby's parking lot.

In "Super Franchise Me," Krusty mentions the chain when telling Mr. Teeny to beat up Mother Hubbard's Sandwich Cupboard.

In "The Wreck of the Relationship," when Marge is reading trash talk directed at Homer's fantasy football team, one comment states "your RB is worse than Arby's," insulting both Homer's running back and the franchise.

An Arby's restaurant is seen in "Fatzcarraldo" as Homer is driving by, along with Tofu Bell and Kentucky Steamed Chickpeas. The building has resemblance to a real-life Arby's restaurant but it does not have the chain's cowboy hat sign, rather generic lettering spelling out the name.

In "You Won't Believe What This Episode is About - Act Three Will Shock You!", one of the memes compared Arby's and digestion when Homer pushes Rev. Lovejoy out of the church window.

Non-canon[]

In the story "Married to the Blob" in "Treehouse of Horror XVII," when Homer was trying to eat the blob, he said that if he could "keep down Arby's", then he could "keep down" the blob.
