Bart's Birthday |
|
Trivia[]
- The episode serves as a satire on both television series finales and AI-generated media.
- Conan O'Brien breaks the fourth wall in the episode's ending by telling everyone that it is the season premiere.
Previous Episode References[]
- "Radio Bart": The idea of Bart's birthday was first explored in this episode.
- Dr. Nick speaks for the first time since Season 29 episode "Throw Grampa from the Dane".
- Bart Gets Famous: Conan O'Brien guest stars on The Simpsons.
- Additionally, that episode, along with "Gump Roast", feature a gag of characters repeating their catchphrases one at a time.
- "Barting Over", "The Fight Before Christmas", and "Lisa Goes Gaga": Tony Hawk, Katy Perry, and Lady Gaga appear.
- "Treehouse of Horror XV": The explosion in the 1995 series finale is a recycled scene from the segment "The Ned Zone".
- "I Love Lisa": HackGPT's last line before self-destructing, "I choo...choo...choose OBLIVION!" is a nod to the "I Choo-Choo Choose You" Valentine's Day card.
- "Lisa the Boy Scout": A recent episode of The Simpsons goes off the rails thanks to modern computer technology (an episode about Bart and Lisa as boy scouts was hijacked by a group of hackers who hold the show hostage in exchange for Bitcoin/most of this episode's plot is A.I.-generated).
- That episode, along with the "Ei8ht" segment of "Treehouse of Horror XXXIV", also had classic episodes be edited to present alternate endings (and "Bart the Daredevil" was involved twice).
- The "original" series finales for the series, which are edited versions of classic episodes, include:
- "Bart the Daredevil", Season 2: After falling to the bottom of Springfield Gorge, the skateboard impales Homer's head and kills him. His coffin is loaded into a hearse, but it hits a tree and drops him out in the same way that the ambulance did in the original episode.
- "Little Big Mom", Season 11: Rather than snow hitting Homer's groin, a tree slices him in half. As he bleeds, Stupid Sexy Flanders passes by saying "Nothing at all!".
- "King-Size Homer", Season 7: The nuclear reactor shoots Homer out, who hits a Duff blimp, sending it hurling into a smokestack which then wipes out the entire city in an explosion.
Cultural References[]
- The FOX Special Presentation intro is a reference to the iconic CBS Special Presentation intros.
- HackGPT is a parody of ChatGPT.
- The running gag where characters say "I'm going to miss this place." before shutting off the lights and leaving the room is a parody of the final scene of Cheers.
End credits[]
- The family sits at a table in a diner referencing the series finale of The Sopranos.
- Rocks spell out "DOH" referencing the series finale of MASH.
- Three characters sit with their eyes shut in a lotus position referencing the series finale of Mad Men.
- Five characters are in a group hug referencing the series finale of The Mary Tyler Moore Show. James L. Brooks was the creator of that show.
- Ned Flanders' dead body lies on the ground referencing the death of Walter White in the series finale of Breaking Bad.
- Ralph Wiggum as Bran Stark sits with Lisa and Marge Simpson referencing the series finale of Game of Thrones.
- Sideshow Bob as Frasier Crane referencing the series finale of Frasier. Both characters are portrayed by Kelsey Grammer.
- Kirk Van Houten and Luann Van Houten are in the back seat of a limousine with their hands touching referencing the series finale of Succession. Succession is loosely based on the Murdoch family which owned the Fox Broadcasting Company prior to the sale to Disney. Fox is the broadcaster of The Simpsons.
- The final scene has Homer in bed with a cartoon version of Suzanne Pleshette, referencing the series finale of Newhart which itself references Newhart's previous show, The Bob Newhart Show.
Goofs[]
- Conan O'Brien says that the Homer Simpson's Claim-Jumping Yukon-Rumbling Rock-N-Roller Coaster at Disneyland Shanghai will open in 2026. However, the theme park is actually called Shanghai Disneyland. Words seemed to have swapped places.
- The AI seems to disregard several details from previous episodes:
- Homer strangles Bart for refusing to blow out the candles, despite Homer claiming in "McMansion & Wife" that he stopped strangling Bart.
- However, showrunner James L. Brooks has gone on record to confirm that Bart will still be strangled. Even Matt Selman has stated that this joke is the DNA of the show.
- The latest canon episode where Bart was strangled by Homer was in the Season 31 premiere, "The Winter of Our Monetized Content".
- The "real" Seymour Skinner returns and is welcomed by Agnes, making the events of "The Principal and the Pauper" somewhat canon after all, although undoing Agnes' claim of preferring Armin Tamzarian as her son.
- Elizabeth Hoover marries Duffman, although she married Gil Gunderson in "Habeas Tortoise". Even in a dream sequence in "The Tell-Tale Pants", their marriage is acknowledged. Later Season 36 episode "Desperately Seeking Lisa" implies that Hoover is divorced or cheating on Gil.
- Deceased characters attend Bart's 11th birthday, and Bart points out how they shouldn't be there:
- Hyman Krustofsky - died in the Season 26 premiere "Clown in the Dumps"; interestingly, that aired 10 years and one day before "Bart's Birthday".
- Frank Grimes - died from touching high voltage wires in Season 8's "Homer's Enemy".
- Bleeding Gums Murphy - died at the hospital in Season 6's "'Round Springfield".
- Interestingly, the AI remembered to exclude Larry Dalrymple, who died in Season 35 episode "Cremains of the Day". Characters that were retired, like Edna Krabappel, Lionel Hutz, and Troy McClure, do not appear either, as Marcia Wallace and Phil Hartman passed away.
- Maggie's first words were "So, that just happened", even though she already said her first word in "Lisa's First Word", which was "daddy". Admittedly, none of her family members heard her say that, but they did hear her say, "Sequel" at the end of The Simpsons Movie.
- Homer strangles Bart for refusing to blow out the candles, despite Homer claiming in "McMansion & Wife" that he stopped strangling Bart.
