Bart Simpson's Creepy Crawly Tales "The Collector" is the secondary story in Simpsons Comics 1.
Plot[]
Bart tells the tale of The Collector (portrayed by Homer Simpson), a reclusive man who lives on a hilltop mansion accompanied by only a single butler named Smedley and a dog. His obsession is to collect comic books of all kinds and rarities and place them in a large climate-controlled vault.
One night, Smedley leaves for the weekend to visit his aging mother. As The Collector heads to his vault to fetch some evening reading material, he finds that the climate control in his comic vault is broken. As he tries to repair it, his dog causes the vault door to slam shut on him, trapping him inside. The temperature then begins dropping and The Collector is faced with a terrifying realization.
Smedley soon returns to free The Collector, who has gone insane because he had to burn his entire comic book collection to save his life.
