Bensonhurst "Zippy" Burns was the father of Wainwright Montgomery Burns, the husband of Barbara Kreitzer and the son of Marguerite Chesterton Wagstaff and Mergatroid Burns.

- He may be the same person as Franklin Jefferson Burns who, according to the show, occupies Bensonhurst's position on the family tree. The two characters are quite different in appearance.
