History[]
In the present day, Shady Oaks Cemetery, an ancient burial ground, is undergoing excavation to facilitate the construction of the Cholera Pit Fashion Plaza. Upon the excavation of one of the coffins, it was discovered to contain two skeletons. One of the skeletons had the business card for Simpson and O'Donnell Detective Agency, which was quite a surprise since Abraham Simpson was half of the agency. Subsequently, the police conducted an interrogation with Abe regarding the business card.
In 1982, Billy O'Donnell and Abraham Simpson operated the Simpson and O'Donnell Detective Agency in collaboration. One day, Agnes Skinner arrives and intends to make a report on her boyfriend, Mr. Burns, for suspected cheating. Abe and Agnes joined with each other and engaged in flirtation, but Agnes went with Billy instead when she realized Abe was tasked with babysitting a young Homer. Subsequently, Billy was unable to return after an investigation, Abe decided to rename the agency as "Simpson and Nobody Private Investigators".
Abe went on an investigation to uncover the truth behind Billy's disappearance, but no one seemed to know anything about it except for Agnes, whom he was unable to reach. Eventually he located Agnes at Springfield Squidport, and proceeded on a date together. During the night, Agnes reveals to Abe that Billy attempted to go after Mr. Burns but was unsuccessful in returning. In the present day, Grampa and Bart proceed to Agnes' house to see Agnes. Abe inquires with her once more regarding her knowledge. Agnes helped in solving the case by showing Abe a sample of the substance that she had left on the road that night. Abe then proceeds to confront Mr. Burns.
In 1982, Abe confronted Mr. Burns about Billy's disappearance, and he revealed that he had taken a one-way trip to paradise. When Abe demanded more information, young Homer dashed into the room. Mr. Burns gave Homer a job and assured him that he wouldn't fire him if Abe would cease investigating. Reluctantly, Abe agreed to stop investigating. In the present day, Abe confronts Mr. Burns once more. Surprisingly, Mr. Burns reveals that Billy had actually moved to a tropical island and then proceeded to video call him. During the video call, Abe was surprised to see Billy alive and not the body that had been discovered in the cemetery.
After checking the DNA on the body, the police discovered that it belonged to Harold Baumgartner, who had expressed a desire to be buried alongside his wife.
