The Bouvier Family is one of the main families in Springfield and the birth family of Marge Simpson, matriarch of the Simpsons.
History[]
Marge Simpson was born Marjorie Bouvier to Clarence and Jacqueline Bouvier who already two daughters, identical twins Patty and Selma Bouvier. She mentioned her father was French.[1] Marge's family have been in Springfield for three generations[2] and when they first arrived in the state they had a choice between living in Springfield or Stenchburg.[3]
The Bouviers have many heirlooms including a quilt kept for six generations until Santa's Little Helper chewed it to shreds[4] and a drawer full of red pearls which Marge maintains are all heirlooms.[5]
While Marge is now part of the Simpson family mentioning (illogically) to Lisa, "No, when I took your father's name I took everything that came with it, including DNA," Lisa has once briefly changed her name to Lisa Bouvier after she realizes that Homer bet against her in a crossword tournament.[6]

Behind the Laughter[]
Writer Jon Vitti during the production of season 2 flashback episode The Way We Was (where the plot involved Homer tricking Marge into tutoring him in French back when they were in high school) chose Bouvier which came from the maiden name of former First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis.[7]
