The Circus Line couch gag is the ninth couch gag of Season 4. It is the first elongated couch gag made for The Simpsons, and the most often used gag in the show.
Plot[]
The Simpson family get up off the couch and form a line with some dancers. The wall behind the couch moves away. This reveals a lot of other circus acts such as elephants, jugglers, magicians, trapeze artists and Santa's Little Helper walking on two legs.
Character Appearances[]
Behind the Laughter[]
- This is the most commonly used long couch gag in the standard definition episodes. The equivalent in the high-definition episodes is the couch gag where The Simpsons are characters in four iconic American sitcoms (The Honeymooners, The Dick Van Dyke Show, The Brady Bunch, and Cheers) before returning to their sitcom.
- The music is used in the Springfield area at Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Studios Florida.
- This couch gag was used for nearly ten seasons, often in episodes that ran short, like The Front and Cape Feare.
Trivia/Goofs[]
- In some FXX reruns, "Monty Can't Buy Me Love" replaces the Circus Line couch gag with the one where the couch is a roller coaster.
