References[]

  • The title of this episode is a parody of a flying disc, which is called a Hovercraft.
  • The previous episode name ("Band of Dads") was a possible reference to the ten-part television World War II miniseries Band of Brothers, produced by Steven Spielberg.
    • In the Czech dubbing, however, this episode is named Kapela otců, which is translated to as Band of Dads.
  • Homer mentions the Colorado Avalanche, a real-life hockey team from the NHL. He also mentions how they were previously named the Quebec Nordiques.
  • Apu mentions they are playing in Las Vegas at a casino with a Circus theme, referring to the Circus Circus Hotel and Casino Resort.
  • The Rock gods shown are John Lennon (The Beatles, Solo Career), Jimi Hendrix (The Jimi Hendrix Experience), Jim Morrison (The Doors) and Sammy Hagar (Van Halen, Montrose), who was only dead temporarily.

Trivia[]

Goofs[]

  • Homer knows how to play guitar from band camp (but he may not remember it)
  • Homer learned the bass guitar in five seconds, when really it takes something like 5-10 years in practicing (maybe he knows it from band camp).
  • When Homer is playing the G-string on the bass, it sounds like an "E" note, though it is possible it was tuned differently.
