• The title of this episode is a reference to the 1989 drama/comedy film Do the Right Thing.
• The episode is based off of real-life fishing events where two fishermen, Jacob Runyan and Chase Cominsky, were accused of stuffing weights into their fish during a walleye fishing tournament in Ohio in fall 2022, as well as the Varsity Blues scandal where Felicity Huffman and Lori Loughlin were charged in their roles in the scandal.
• Cheat Strong wristbands are a parody of the Livestrong bracelets.
• The initials for University of Springfield Campus (USC) is a reference to real-life USC's (University of Southern California) involvement in the Varsity Blues scandal.
