Ed Asner (November 15, 1929-August 29, 2021) was an American actor, producer and voice actor who was best known for his role as Lou Grant in The Mary Tyler Moore Show and spin-off Lou Grant. Both shows were created by Simpsons co-producer James L. Brooks He has also voiced Carl Fredricksen in the Disney/Pixar movie Up.
On The Simpsons, he provided the voice of the Lifeways Editor of the Springfield Shopper in "Guess Who's Coming to Criticize Dinner?".
