- Marge doesn't make any speaking appearances in this short.
- This short replaced the couch gag in "You Kent Always Say What You Want".
- This is the first episode that shows Homer strangling Bart. This is also the first short where Homer says ass.
- Maggie has a set of teeth yet in real life, a baby does not have that much or even at all including herself.
- In Treehouse of Horror XXV, there was a scene copying the last part of this short, only as ghosts and also with the real Simpsons. The main difference is that in the original short, Marge merely falls asleep in the final shot of the short, while in XXV, Marge, or more accurately the ghost of Marge instead strangles the real Marge via the latter's own pearl necklace, also Homer does not say "Why you little!" when he strangles Bart.
- This episode makes the debut of "Why you little!"
- Ironically, just three weeks after this aired, Andre the Giant gave Bob Uecker a similar chokehold at Wrestlemania IV, which was hosted by Donald Trump's Trump Plaza.
