Family Therapy is the forty-fifth Simpsons short and originally aired on The Tracey Ullman Show on April 23, 1989.

Plot

Homer tricks the family into going to see a psychologist by saying they are going out for frosty chocolate milkshakes. He seeks an answer to the family problem of not laughing anymore. Bart says "I ain't leaving till that bowl's empty". Homer angrily tells Bart to put the mints back. After Bart ruins the bowl of mints by spitting them out, Lisa kicks the psychologist in the leg after scolding Bart for ruining the bowl of mints for everyone, Homer scolds the psychologist for calling Lisa a borderline psychotic, Bart shoots him with his dart gun because he dislikes him, and Lisa cuts his tie with scissors much to Marge's horror; the psychologist angrily asks them to leave his office. Once the family are outside, they break into laughter.
