Norman Van Horne is the deceased father of Melvin Van Horne and his sister. Melvin attended his father's funeral shortly before performing at an ice rink with Krusty. Melvin once said that his father was a monster. He fought in World War II. While in France him and his Sergeant Abe were helped by Meaux and Genevieve Bouvier.
He may have been a Stonecutter since his son was a Stonecutter.
