John Earl Madden (April 10, 1936 - December 28, 2021) was a former football coach and sportscaster. Madden was hired by the Oakland Raiders in 1967, taking over as head coach in 1969. During his during his ten-year coaching tenure, he led the Raiders to eight playoff appearances and a Super Bowl XI championship; he never had a losing record and has the highest overall winning percentage among NFL coaches. Madden began his sportscasting career in 1979; joining CBS as a color commentator; he was elevated to the network's top tier broadcasting team in 1981. Madden also provided color commentary for Fox (1994-2001), ABC (2002-2005), and NBC (2006-2008). He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2006. Madden lent his name, likeness, and input to the John Madden Football (now Madden NFL) video game series.

Madden appeared as himself in the episode "Sunday, Cruddy Sunday" as a Super Bowl color commentator, alongside Pat Summerall.

The episode "The Longest Marge" was dedicated to him.
