Guthrie Frenel is a man who is a theatrical director.
History[]
After Lisa and Marge's comic book, Sad Girl, becomes popular in Springfield, Guthrie Frenel visits the Simpson family to tell them that he wants to turn Sad Girl into a stage musical adaptation. He then explains to them that he wanted to make something new and amazing for the musical.
Sometime later, during production of the musical at the Walter R. Bridgetunnel Theatre, Guthrie has somehow changed everything, and only wants to keep the art style from the comic. However, the story is only summed up in the opening speech from the narrator, thus making Lisa very annoyed at the situation.
On the day of the musical's premiere, during it, Marge realizes that Lisa is upset about the unexpected changes that has happened, so she drew Lisa's face (in the Sad Girl art style) onto a spotlight and shines it on a wall. Lisa notices this and smiles. However, an angry Guthrie sees this because he didn't plan for it, so he moves the spotlight away from the stage and into the technical operator's booth, blinding him in the process. Soon, the musical turns into a disaster because of this.
Shortly after the musical ends in this disaster, at the Springfield Sardi's, Guthrie reads a review about the musical in The Springfield Shopper, but gets upset when he finds out that the review says that the musical is the "greatest disaster in theatre history", leaving him hardly sobbing.
