Harvard College is an Ivy League university outside of Boston. Founded in 1636 by puritan John Harvard, Harvard is the oldest institution of higher education in the United States of America.

Lisa desire to attend Harvard is a recurring reference and her worry that any setback, no matter how small like a poor grade on test in the 2nd grade, will ruin her chances.[1][2][3][4][5] In Lisa's dream of the Seven Sisters Colleges, Radcliffe tells her to go there and meet Harvard men while Wellesley tells go there and marry them.[6]
Another recurring reference to Harvard is Mr. Burns, as a former Yalie, derision of it.[7][8]

At least 24 writers for The Simpsons studied at Harvard and many also wrote for the campus humor magazine The Harvard Lampoon. The Lampoon's offices are at 44 Bow Street which was also the address of Dr. Nick's Walk-In Clinic.[9]
This is referenced in the gag of how many of the writers for kids' cartoon Itchy & Scratchy are also Harvard graduates.[10][11]
