Cultural References[]
- The episode's title is a pun on the 80s AC/DC song "Highway to Hell", which played during the closing credits of "Simpsons Bible Stories".
- The Krusty Burger Munchie meals are modeled after the Jack in the Box's Munchie Meal Boxes, whose advertising campaign was accused of targeting the "stoner" market. However, many Jack in the Box locations operate where recreational marijuana is legal.
- A few months after this episode aired, hemp-related cannabis was federally decriminalized (yet still illegal in some states).
Trivia[]
- Drederick Tatum is shown to be a marijuana addict. In contrast, Drederick Tatum inspiration Mike Tyson has himself had a long history of marijuana addiction. However, unlike what marijuana propaganda has at times promoted about marijuana giving people peace in the mind, Tyson at times has used marijuana even during violent moments of his life. As shown in the 2009 documentary Tyson, Tyson smoked weed even in the 1980s, a time when he had violent episodes. The effect it has had on his brain has perhaps aided his denial of numerous bad incidents in his life, such as his 1991 rape of Desiree Washington.
- Despite Fox's history with the WWF/WWE, this episode aired just two months before Mike Tyson debuted for WWE rival AEW. He would make his debut on May 23, 2020 at AEW Double or Nothing.
- Bart breaks the fourth wall by dissipating Homer's thought bubble as it appears.
- This is the first episode to air after the First USA state-wide Lockdowns (including California) due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Continuity[]
- People who appeared at the The Drederick include characters from previous episodes:
- Willie Nelson from the episode "Behind the Laughter".
- Garth Motherloving the CEO of Motherloving Sweets and Sugar Company from "Sweets and Sour Marge".
- Gathrie Frenel the theatrical director from "Springfield Splendor".
- Evelyn who was Patty's girlfriend who went on vacation to Costa Rica with the Simpsons and several different families in "Livin' La Pura Vida".
Goofs[]
- When Marge entered the restroom after becoming high, a close up of her blood-shot eyes revealed she has light blue eyes, yet in "Little Orphan Millie", Marge's eyes are revealed to be Hazel.
- Alice Glick is seen outside Well + Good, despite having died in the episode "Replaceable You".
- However she was revealed to be alive in "The D'oh-cial Network" so her "death" might not be real.
