Horace Wilcox was Springfield's local congressman before he died. The Simpson family went to see him about the planes going over their house, and he died from a heart attack. He was replaced by Krusty the Clown.

Biography

Horace Wilcox was born in 1908. When he was four years old, he and (possibly) his parents were on the Titanic when it sunk. It was revealed by Kent Brockman that he survived the disaster. He was elected to Congress in 1933.

By 2003, Wilcox was still Springfield's representative. Sometime during spring, Homer and Marge Simpson visited to complain about the planes that have began flying over their house, and how it caused them lack of sleep. Horace was willing to help them, but he suffered a heart attack, and passed away in his office.

Eventually, he was replaced by Krusty the Clown as Springfield's congressman.

Trivia

  • He would have had to have been at least 25 to be eligible to be seated in Congress. His seventy years in Congress plus at least 25 years before, means that he was at least 95 years old at the time of his death.
  • It was revealed he was a Titanic survivor in 1912, when his death was announced by Kent Brockman on the TV
  • Congressman Wilcox may be based on real-life Representative John Dingell, who is the longest serving member of the House of Representatives.
  • When listening to the Simpsons' story, he states that he has had seventy-five years of public service. This implys that he was part of another public service organization five years before joining the House of Representatives (he had been serving as Congressman for seventy years).
