- The episode title is a reference to Bart's catchphrase "Ay caramba!" as well as the novel and television series I, Claudius.
- This is the first non-canon episode of Season 32, though it does take place in dreams.
- Some deceased characters were seen in the episode, including Frank Grimes.
- Bart the Jerk and his reign does show similarities to that of former President Donald Trump, right down to him portraying the Norse in a negatively and building a wall to prevent them from cross the boarder.
- This is the final episode produced before all of the actors that voiced all of the non-white characters would be stepping away from their roles as a result of the George Floyd protests. This is not the last episode featuring white actors voicing non-white characters to air though, that would be The 7 Beer Itch.

- The Kent Brockman character calls Obeseus the Wide, Mr. Plow, which is a reference to Homer's old snow plow business in the episode "Mr. Plow".
- Obeseus the Wide's size resembles king-size Homer, referencing the weight he gained in "King-Size Homer".
Goofs[]
- The emperor is shown purging in a room he calls a "vomitorium". This is actually a popular misconception, as a vomitorium is actually a type of passageway.
