The Indian Elephant is an animal brought to 742 Evergreen Terrace when it housed Apu Nahasapeemapetilon and Manjula Nahasapeemapetilon's wedding. During the services, Apu rode this elephant. When Homer Simpson ate some of the elephant's peanuts, it grabbed Homer with it trunk, leaving him struggling in the air.
The elephant, or at least a similar elephant, was among the leftover wedding supplies on the Simpsons' property from Apu's wedding when Bart revealed he had agreed to have Otto Mann and his fiancee Becky marry on their property, causing Marge to demand that Homer get rid of the elephant (who had long overstayed its welcome) as a condition to allowing the wedding to take place, with the elephant threatening Santa's Little Helper during that time.
