Cultural references
- The title of this episode is a parody of the hip hop group Insane Clown Posse.
- Krusty's walk through the desert storm mimics The French Lieutenant's Woman.
- Stephen King tells Marge that he's working on a biography of Benjamin Franklin where Franklin uses electricity to "torture small animals and green mountain men." The latter is a reference to the Green Mountain Boys, a militia organization led by Ethan Allen which fought in the American Revolutionary War.
Trivia
- The song that Homer is about to sing, but ends up hushed by Fat Tony, was The Lion Sleeps Tonight.
Continuity Error
- Based on Krusty's flashback, he first met Sophie's mother, Erin during the Gulf War around 1991. However, the series had debuted in 1989. Since Sophie is around Bart's age, she should have been born earlier, due to the series' floating timeline.
- Stephen King somehow knew Marge's name, despite Marge not telling him who she was.
