Iron Marge
It's a Blunderful Life

Iron Marge is the sixth episode of Season 35 of The Simpsons, originally produced for Season 34.[2]

Synopsis[]

When Marge's heart is broken by a bad birthday present, Bart and Lisa must dig into their mom's past to show that they really know her. Homer becomes a neighborhood fear-monger.

Plot[]

At 3 AM in the early morning, Bart was watching the violent movie, John Wick. When it hears a car crash, Bart turns off the TV and run up stair quickly as the family wakes up to check outside what is happening. As residents gather outside, Helen and other mothers mock Marge's robe with a charger cable. Meanwhile, Kirk nearly steps on a downed wire from the crash, but Homer saves him. He then registers for "The Alarmist", where he can upload a video about the wire. Upon discovering his name at the bottom of the leaderboard, Comic Book Guy informs him that reporting more threats is necessary to climb the ranks.

With Marge's birthday tomorrow, Bart and Lisa decide to buy her a gift instead of making handmade gifts like they do every year, after watching her get laughed at by other moms. After getting money from Ned for removing leaves from his sidewalk, they go to the mall to buy her a new bathrobe. However, they find a spy kit for the same price and buy it for themselves, instead giving Marge two ironing boards for her birthday. Unfortunately, Marge isn't happy with the gift since she already has an ironing board.

While playing with their new spy kit, Bart and Lisa overhear Marge tell Ned how disappointed she is with the new gift. In order to make it up to their mother, Bart and Lisa break into her box of childhood mementos and find out she had a parrot named Petey that was given away. At the bus station, they'll head to North Townsburg, and both kick a passenger seat which is rude. When they arrived in North Townsburg, the town looked depressing, and they'll decide to search for him. Meanwhile, Homer starts a blog posting everything about the neighborhood. He is then rivaled by Agnes Skinner, and they compete over who can post the most. Suddenly, they both fell into a hole in the park and screamed for help, but everyone else left.

They tracked the location to Krista who took Petey, only to be told she left the cage open. They then notice Petey up a tree and trap him in the box. Back at the park, they were screaming for help and were trapped in the sinkhole, but no one else could help them after they left. Homer and Agnes continue their argument until she starts choking on candy and needs him help to remove candy from her throat. Homer saves Agnes by wrapping his arm around her torso to remove the candy, an action she feels proud of having accomplished. Homer helps Agnes out of a sinkhole, and as she departs, she informs him that she is at the top of the leaderboard.

At home, Bart and Lisa have one more thing for Marge and show Petey off to Marge. However, Petey started to panic and terrorize the room and attack Marge. Bart and Lisa regret their actions because their intention was simply to reconnect Marge with a friend from her childhood. When Petey bites Marge, she captures him inside a pillow and tells them that they'll them to take him back to North Townsburg.

In the end of the episode, at 3 AM in another early morning, everyone wakes up as heard a car crash again. As everyone emerges without finding anything, the mothers observe that Marge is now wearing a new robe, a gift from Bart and Lisa. She presents it to them, yet all are confused by the absence of anything that could have caused the noise. As Marge returns to the house, Bart and Lisa were found to have employed the distraction generator from the Spy Kit to create the distraction, and together with Marge, they communicated via the watch walkie-talkies to confirm the success of their mission.
