Sir Isaac Newton was a famous English scientist.

A popular legend is how Sir Isaac Newton suddenly came up with his Theory of Gravity right after an apple falling from the tree he was sitting underneath and hit him on the head. The apple is often a part of the references The Simpsons make to Sir Isaac Newton.

History[]

Homer calls the Marital Stress Hotline in desperation as he fantasizes over his co-worker, Mindy Simmons. After he realizes Ned Flanders is on the other end of the line, he abruptly hangs up and knocked out by toppling the phone booth over. While knocked out his guardian angel picks in the form of Isaac Newton up Homer. However, Homer does not recognize him, so he morphs into Colonel Klink, the hapless antagonist from Hogan's Heroes.[1]

Lisa's presentation at "the Big Science Thing" starts by going through the history of nerds being bullied and has a slide showing a drawing of a bully up in the tree who is throwing the apple at Sir Isaac Newton's head.[2]

The electricity to |part of Springfield is turned off right as Professor Frink's teleporter is bringing Sir Isaac Newton so only the lower half of his body comes and proceeds to chase Professor Frink around the room to repeatedly kick him in the butt.[3]

Professor Frink breaks a bust of Isaac Newton during this song to the Springfield chapter of Mensa convincing them to switch from standard I.Q. tests to his new Personal Valuation Quotient (P.V.Q.) tests.[4]

At the final scene of the British romantic comedy Love, Indubitably (a parody of Love Actually) has a series of cameos from major British icons where a nude Sir Isaac Newton dancing along side also nude Sir Winston Churchill, William Shakespeare, and Sherlock Holmes.[5]
