An elderly Lisa recounts the story of how Homer was scapegoated for a power outage that plunged Springfield into darkness days before Thanksgiving to her family at the thanksgiving table.
Plot[]
The episode takes place 60 years into the future. The Simpson family sits down for Thanksgiving dinner. For Marge, it is her first since Homer died. Fortunately, his hologram joins the meal. Before they start eating their meal, the family lights candle on their device. Lisa then starts explaining that the people of Springfield light the candles to remember a massive blackout that nearly destroyed the town.
One night, Marge woke Homer up and told him that a big storm was coming to Springfield and asked him if he installed the storm windows yet. She quickly found out that he didn't. Homer promised to do so after work. Homer then put on a Hawaiian shirt because it was Hawaiian day at the Power Plant and he had been elected King Kamehameha. At the Nuclear Power Plant, Hawaiian day was being celebrated. Meanwhile, Mr. Burns welcomed new non-union workers to the Power Plant, with the intention of having them replace the old workers. When Homer was told to take out the trash at the party, he almost threw it into the reactor core chute but prevented disaster in the last second. Meanwhile, Mr. Burns asked Smithers to plug his phone into an overloaded plug socket, which ignited a fire. All people were evacuated from the power plant as it melted down. When Springfield lost electricity, everyone thought that Homer was the one responsible for the fire and thus blamed him.
Later, Homer arrived home, installed the storm windows and got new batteries for the flashlights. Despite him telling her that the fault wasn't his, Marge thought that he was making up for causing the blackout. She still didn't believe him when suddenly, an angry mob started throwing bricks through the windows of the house. Meanwhile, Mayor Quimby announced that the town would start doing death games, with them hunting Milhouse the following day and Lisa began reading Little Cabin on the Plain.
The next day, Marge found that they were out of food, and accused Homer of eating it all. Homer tried to explain himself, but she cut him off and went away. Meanwhile, Bart went outside where he tried to use the last of his cell phone's power, but it died. Comic Book Guy then walked past and ranted about The Matrix Resurrections, with Gil following him. Homer went to Moe's Tavern, only to find out that he was now a pariah and not welcomed anymore. When he came back home, Grampa showed up. He helped set up the fireplace and played music for the family. That night, when the family slept, the people of Springfield moved the Simpsons house out of town and onto a rock formation.
While getting used to living in their new location, Homer showed Marge a photo of him. Upon seeing it, she noticed that he had been burying the turkey in the snow to keep it fresh. Marge then realized that he had been accused of causing the fire. The family then went to Burns' manor where they suspected Mr. Burns as the real culprit. Burns attempted to send them down a trap door, but it failed to open due to the lack of power. The family then stepped into his dining room and confronted him. Burns was arrested for causing the blackout and had to pay a fine to the town. He had now become the most hated person in Springfield. Marge then invited everyone to have dinner with them, in return for putting their house back.
Back into the future, Bart has died of boredom from the story, and he joined his hologram as well. He then tries to eat a turkey leg but is taken by Homer's hologram. They take turns eating the same piece back and forth. In the present at the end of the episode, Homer reads her book "The Christmas Orange" to Lisa. She then asks Homer to stop there.
