Jay Pharoah (born 14 October, 1987) is an American actor. In 2022, he received the role of Drederick Tatum (the Mike Tyson-esque professional boxer) replacing Hank Azaria due to the growing trend of white voice actors no longer voicing characters of color (mostly white voice actors playing African-American characters, but this also applies to Latinos and Asians, as well as members of the LGBTQ+ community voicing LGBTQ+ characters rather than having those characters being voiced by heterosexual and cisgendered voice actors).

Other Work[]

He was in Family Guy as Brick Baker for the episode "Lawyer Guy" and was a cast member on the long-running NBC sketch show, Saturday Night Live from 2010 to 2016. His recurring characters include Black Jeopardy contestant Amir, MC George Costanza from the "Under-Underground Records" ads, and Principal Daniel Frye (based on his actual high school principal). His celebrity impressions include Barack Obama (replacing Fred Armisen's impression of him due to complaints of whitewash casting), Andre 3000 from OutKast, 2 Chainz, Jay-Z, Kanye West, Dr. Ben Carson, Dennis Rodman, Denzel Washington, Drake, Kendrick Lamar, DMX, Jamie Foxx, Idris Elba, Richard Pryor, Will Smith, and former SNL cast members Eddie Murphy, Chris Rock, and Tracy Morgan.
