Jim Morrison (b. December 8, 1943 - d. July 3, 1971) was an American musician and poet who was the frontman of the rock band The Doors.
He was found dead in the bathtub of his Paris apartment at age 27 and buried in Père Lachaise Cemetery where his gravesite remains one of the most visited attractions in Paris.
History[]
Jim Morrison laughed down at Homer from rockstar heaven.[1]
Homer and Marge are on a romantic nighttime stroll through Paris passing by iconic Parisian locations including Jim Morrison's grave.[2]
Carl is promoted at the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant and Homer becomes his assistant. Carl makes more unreasonable and time consuming demands on Homer. Homer and Marge are at home late at night when they interrupted by a call Carl who is suddenly in Paris, France at Fission Week" Nuclear Expo telling Homer, "I need you to book me a room at the Ritz with a view of Jim Morrison's grave. And book me dinner at that place. You know the one, the one Lenny's mom read about 2 years ago."[3] The gag behind Carl's demands are impossible to meet as the Ritz would not have any rooms with a view of Jim Morrison's grave.[4]
Behind the Laughter[]
Otto's line, "The Admiral and I don't get along." about his parents in "The Otto Show" was based off the rift between Jim Morrison and his father, a rear admiral in the U.S. Navy.
Jim Morrison's tombstone in the opening of season 3's "Treehouse of Horror II" was covered in graffiti as was the real life one. It was replaced in 1990 and now appears more like how it was depicted in season 27's "To Courier with Love".
