Joe Frazier (January 12, 1944 – November 7, 2011) was a professional boxer. He appears as himself in "Brother, Can You Spare Two Dimes?" where he presents Homer with the First Annual Montgomery Burns Award for Outstanding Achievement in the Field of Excellence. Afterwards, he sympathizes with Homer's loss of his couch and depression thereof with his own loss of the World Championship, although he ends up getting into a fight with Barney Gumble after the latter was "riding on him all night," to which he beat Barney effortlessly and punched him in a trash can. Frazier appears again in Homer's Paternity Coot.

Frazier was diagnosed with liver cancer in late September 2011 and admitted to hospital care. He died on November 7, 2011.

Trivia

It was originally intended that he lose to Barney in their fight outside Moe Tavern's bar in "Brother, Can You Spare Two Dimes?", but Joe Frazier's son objected, citing that this wasn't the kind of respect the World Champion of Boxing deserved (at the time the episode was being created and aired, Frazier was the reigning champion).
