Joe Quimby, Sr. is the late husband of Daisy Quimby, the father of Joe Quimby and Clovis Quimby and the paternal grandfather of Freddy Quimby.

History

Joe Quimby was his first legitimate child. Joe Sr. also had children with Agnes Moorehead and, later, with all of his son's nannies. In 1961, Joe Quimby, Sr. mysteriously disappeared. His body was found a decade later, marooned in a sand trap on the back nine.

At one time, it was mentioned that the Springfield Mall was in a dilapidated state due to the mayor's dad being murdered there.

The character design was based on Joe Kennedy Sr.
