Charles John Mahoney (June 20, 1940 - February 4, 2018) was an English-American actor and voice actor. He moved from England and emigrated to the United States at the age of 18 and gained American citizenship in 1971. As an actor, Mahoney was best known for his portrayal of Martin Crane in Frasier which ran from 1993 until 2004. He made a guest appearance on The Simpsons as the voice of Robert Terwilliger, Sr., who is the father of Bob and Cecil Terwilliger in the Season 18 episode "Funeral for a Fiend". This episode reunited him with his Frasier co-stars Kelsey Grammer and David Hyde Pierce who portrayed Frasier and Niles Crane respectively. Mahoney has had several other roles in films such as The Hudsucker Proxy, The Iron Giant and Dan in Real Life.

Death

Mahoney died as a result of throat cancer in Chicago on February 4, 2018. He was 77 years old.
