John S. is the embittered spouse of Gloria S. who calls him "Johnny-boy". He calls her the "Queen of the Harpies" several times at a marriage counseling retreat that was held by Reverend Lovejoy. Eventually, they forgive each other and leave to rekindle their relationship.
He and Gloria were later having dinner at the club where "The Steve Sax Trio" was performing at.
He later attended the town meeting that was held in order to decide how to spend Mr. Burns' money.
