Groundskeeper Willie once stated that he is from neither Glasgow nor Edinburgh, but from Kirkwall in the Orkney Isles.
Trivia[]
- When Willie stated his birthplace as Kirkwall, he claimed that his father was an "Uppie" and his mother was a "Doonie" (and that this tore his family apart). This is a reference to the two teams that play in the Kirkwall Ba Game.
