The Simpsons has spawned a wide range of media based on the TV show, including a film, comics and video games.
TV Show
The first appearance of The Simpsons on Television was on the The Tracey Ullman Show. In 1989, the show was picked up for a full series. Since then, the show has broadcast over 530 episodes and is currently in its Twenty-fifth season. Season 26 has already been confirmed.
Movie
The Simpsons Movie was released on July 27, 2007. It was produced by Fox, Gracie Films and Film Roman. The film was directed by long-time producer David Silverman and written by a team of writers including Matt Groening, James L. Brooks, Al Jean, George Meyer, Mike Reiss, John Swartzwelder, Jon Vitti, David Mirkin, Mike Scully, Matt Selman and Ian Maxtone-Graham.

Comics
Books
There have been many official Simpsons publications since the start of the series, as well as many unofficial. These range from In-universe books such as The Simpsons Uncensored Family Album to episode guides.
There have also been "Are We There Yet Guides" and The Simpsons Library of Wisdom, which focus on individual characters.
Comic stories from both Simpsons Comics and Bart Simpson Comics are reprinted in book format. Every year, various calendars are also released.
Video Games
The first Simpsons video Game was The Simpsons Arcade Game, released by Konami in 1991. Between 1991 and November 2001, 19 games were released on various formats, such as the NES, Commodore, Master System, Mega Drive, Game Boy, PC, PlayStation and Game Boy Color.
Radical Entertainment released The Simpsons Road Rage in 2001 and The Simpsons Skateboarding was released exclusively for PlayStation 2 in 2002.
One of the most popular Simpsons games was The Simpsons: Hit and Run, which followed a Grand Theft Auto style approach to the game. In 2007, The Simpsons Game was released.
The Simpsons have also been released on mobile platforms.
DVDs
The first season of "The Simpsons" was released on September 25, 2001. Since then seasons 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 ,16 and 20 have been released on DVD. With seasons 13, 14, 15, 16 and 20 also released on Blu-ray.
Discography
Collections of music featured in the show have been released on the albums Songs in the Key of Springfield, Go Simpsonic with The Simpsons and The Simpsons: Testify.
The 1990 album The Simpsons Sing the Blues contained all original material and peaked at number 3 in the American charts. A single written by Michael Jackson, called Do the Bartman, was released and was a British number one. A similar album, The Yellow Album contained both covers, original songs and music from the show.
Another single was released in 1997, called The Streets of Springfield. It failed to chart.
The Movies soundtrack, was also released in 2007, as The Simpsons Movie: The Music, with the song Spider-Pig entering the top 3 in Ireland, top 10 in New Zealand and Top 30 in Norway and the UK.
