Looking for Mr. Goodbart |
|
Censorship[]
- This episode is banned in Russia due to the scene where Homer plays Peekimon Get while in church, which was similar to a real-life incident[1] involving Russian blogger Ruslan Sokolovsky playing Pokémon Go at a church.
Cultural References[]
- The name of this episode is a reference to the novel 1975 and later 1977 crime drama movie Looking for Mr. Goodbar (film).
- Peekimon Get is a parody of the popular mobile app Pokémon Go.
Trivia[]
- This is the second time that the Gracie Films logo has a visual variant. Here, the audience in the logo is replaced by Peekimon monsters, with one of them even shushing just like the woman usually does. The first was "Last Tap Dance in Springfield".
- This is the second time that Homer gets sprayed by a skunk. The first was in "Marge on the Lam".
- The gravesite of Frank Grimes from "Homer's Enemy" is a popular Peekimon Get destination.
- The Tracey Ullman Show short, Good Night, was shown before the couch gag to celebrate 30 years of the Simpsons' televised debut, but it only has the scene where Marge sings "Rock-a-bye baby" to Maggie.
- The title screen gag has the words "30 YEARS AGO..." at the bottom, which is a reference to the Simpsons turning 30 years old on television eleven days prior to this episode's original airing.
- The text message Chalmers sends to Skinner during the Grandpa, Grandma song is a reference to Chalmers' catchphrase, "SKINNERRRRR!", with "SKIN" in the first text bubble and "NER!" in the second text bubble (which is obviously correct because Chalmers always says the first part of Skinner's name before he says the second part whenever he yells the name).
- The special Donald Trump's First 100 Days in Office is used to promote this episode.
- It is revealed that Comic Book Guy is celebrating his third wedding anniversary with Kumiko.
- Chief Wiggum mentions Pete Sampras and Williams Sisters, both appeared in "The Simpsons" ("Tennis the Menace ")
- Edna Krabappel’s (died in 2013) and Maude Flanders' (died in "Alone Again, Natura-Diddily") graves appear in the cemetery.
Goofs[]
- Bart doesn't understand what bequeath means, but in "Mona Leaves-a" when Mona bequeathed him her Swiss pocket knife, he already realized what it meant.
- Carl closed the door however Homer is able to open it, Carl closes the door again on Homer.
