Macedonia (Macedonian: Македонија), officially the Republic of North Macedonia (Macedonian: Република Северна Македонија), is a country in Southeastern Europe.

Moe Szyslak's grandmother, Baba Branka, was Macedonian. This makes the Szyslak family trace at least parts of their roots to the region. Moe retained this identity and is still fluent in Macedonian.
Aeropos Walkov, a rising Macedonian baseball star, signs for the Springfield Isotopes after seeing how Springfield is basically the same as Macedonia and he won't feel homesick, and Moe acts as his Macedonian interpreter. His popularity makes Macedonian national costumes a trend in America. Eventually, after a betting scandal, Walkov signs off to another team and Moe returns to his bartending life.[1]
