Lisa tries to deny Janey and many girls to get her into a babysitter's union but relents once Michael moore is presented as a supporter. In the meanwhile, Homer decides to paint his work shirt on to save time then decides to paint pants, where he gets into trouble at Krusty Burger. While Lisa looks after her first child, Kelly, Marge has to leave Maggie with Lisa while she goes to bail Homer out. Unfortunately, Lisa would be in conflict with the babysitter union rules and risks being kicked out, but once Wanda shows up to make sure Lisa is not looking after more than one kid, Lisa lies and accidentally gets Wanda to take Maggie instead.
Homer gets released by Wiggum once the "no shoes, no shirt, no service" rule is circumvented to say that there wasn't anything against no pants, Marge and Homer come home too late to save Maggie from heading back with the babysitter's union, thus kicking Lisa out, Marge tries to get into the union herself to get Maggie back. Maggie bounces around many places, including Wiggum's house and Ned refuses to help Lisa cause of HIS union. Lisa manages to get Milhouse to help her out and she finds out who is completely behind this issue. It is Mr. Burns who is the "head" of the union getting kids to turn on everything electric to make sure he keeps getting richer. So everything is back to normal except Milhouse who everyone assumes got taken apart by one of Burns' hounds. It isn't to be as Milhouse and Kirk are on a cruise BUT a) no women sign up so it's a sausage fest and b) they have enough fuel for Leper Island and not Hawaii. However, the babysitters union gets punished for their misdeeds as the girls have to volunteer at a centre for kids who are with single parents, Mr Burns has to work the night shift.
