Maggie in Peril: Chapter One |
|
Trivia[]
- This was likely loosely inspired by Cyndi Lauper's 1985 music video Goonies R Good Enough For Me, which aired in two parts and also featured Cyndi in a similar cliffhanger situation while hunting for a treasure at the end of the first part. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LxLhytQ67fs The music video's director Steven Spielberg is a close friend of Simpsons co-creator James L. Brooks.
- This short's plot later became the inspiration for the Nickelodeon show Rugrats' 1991 cartoon Barbecue Story, which involved infant Tommy Pickles going across the yard to retrieve his ball after his cousin Angelica kicked it over the fence. Klasky-Csupo, which oversaw the animation work for Maggie In Peril, served as the animation studio which made Rugrats.
- This is the second time that Maggie rides a skateboard. The first was in Skateboarding.
- This is the only short, and the first piece of Simpsons media, to have a sequel. The only other episodes of the series divided in parts are the Who Shot Mr. Burns? episodes, The Great Phatsby and the Warrin' Priests.
