Marge Simpson in: "Screaming Yellow Honkers" |
|
Trivia[]
- The car that Marge drives in this episode would appear as a car for Marge in The Simpsons Road Rage video game.
- Hans Moleman appears to be driving a 1995-97 Ford Contour in this episode.
- The family fleeing the zoo during the rhino stampede are Mike Scully, his wife, Julie Thacker, and their five daughters.
Previous Episode References[]
- "The Last Temptation of Krust": The Canyonero SUV is shown
- "Lisa's Pony": The school has a lame talent show.
- "Separate Vocations": Someone has stubby fingers (Lisa, which will ruin her chances at professionally playing the saxophone/Chief Wiggum, which makes it hard for him to rip Marge's driver's license).
- Itchy & Scratchy: The Movie:
- A Simpson female (Maggie/Marge) crashes a car into a prison, letting all the prisoners escape, including Snake Jailbird.
- "Itchy & Scratchy: The Movie", "Bart's Girlfriend", and "Who Shot Mr. Burns, part two": Groundskeeper Willie wears traditional Scottish attire and/or plays the bagpipes while in traditional Scottish attire.
- "$pringfield (Or, How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love Legalized Gambling)" and "Fear of Flying": Marge's personality changes and it affects the family (Marge becomes addicted to slot machines at Burns' casino/Marge going to therapy because of her fear of flying/Marge gets road rage from driving the Canyonero).
- "Grade School Confidential": Superintendent Chalmers insults Principal Skinner's lack of a sex life (tells Skinner that no one would be dumb enough to lie about being a 44-year-old virgin/calls Skinner a "sexless freak" for ruining the "Who's On First?" bit).
- "Mr. Plow", "Miracle on Evergreen Terrace", and "Realty Bites": The Simpsons get a new vehicle (the snowplow/the new stationwagon that ends up falling through the ice/Snake's convertible/the Canyonero).
- "Duffless": A Simpson parent (Homer/Marge) goes to traffic school and loses his (or her, in this case) license.
- "Bart vs. Australia": A Simpson male (Homer/Bart) causes a domino effect disaster involving animals (Bart leaves his pet frog at the Australian airport, a kangaroo keeps it as its baby, and the frog becomes an invasive species/Homer wakes up a lemur by sling-shotting a rock at it, causing a kangaroo to kick a rhino and the rhinos to stampede).
- All Singing, All Dancing: A gun goes off during the closing credits (Snake shooting at the orchestra/Homer being held at gunpoint and forced to read a statement saying that NBC is not better than FOX, then getting shot when he mentions that CBS is better than FOX).
- "Raging Abe Simpson and His Grumbling Grandson in: "The Curse of the Flying Hellfish"" and "Homer Simpson in: "Kidney Trouble"": The episode title has a similar construction of "[Simpson family member] in:..."
- "Rosebud" and "The Last Temptation of Krust": A character voiced by Dan Castellaneta (Homer/Krusty the Clown/Groundskeeper Willie) performs stand-up comedy (with disastrous results).
- "Marge on the Lam" and "Homer Alone": Marge is associated with the 1991 movie Thelma & Louise (is roped into fleeing the police with Ruth and the two nearly drive off a cliff/Marge watches the movie while at Rancho Relaxo/Chief Wiggum calls Marge "Thelma & Louise" when she gets pulled over).
- "A Star is Burns":
- Homer's blue pants have a belt to them (during The Eternal Struggle/when the rhino snags it with his horn).
- Someone's disastrous attempt at stand-up comedy (Rainier Wolfcastle in the movie McBain: Let's Get Silly/Groundskeeper Willie at the school talent show).
- "Simpsoncalifragilisticexpiala(Annoyed Grunt)cious: Homer references a 1990s family movie starring Robin Williams (thinks the old women applying for the live-in nanny job are men in drag because he saw Mrs. Doubtfire/thinks shouting "Jumanji!" will stop the rhino attack).
Goofs[]
- When all the teachers and staff members come out on stage for the musical in the beginning, there are nine people, when they form a pyramid there are ten people. An unnamed male teacher is added on the bottom of the pyramid.
- When the teachers walk out, Mr. Largo is on the left between Otto and Lunchlady Doris, but when everyone tears off their graduation robes, he is on the far right next to Mrs. Krabappel.
- Otto and Lunchlady Doris wouldn't be considered teachers, but are part of the teacher talent show. Groundskeeper Willie is a gray area, since he did temporarily teach French class on "'Round Springfield" due to budget cuts (which is also why Lunchlady Doris was the school nurse, even though "Whacking Day" revealed that she was the school nurse, so she can get two paychecks instead of one).
- When Marge first used her headlights to see Bart and Lisa in the kitchen, Bart was wearing nothing but his underwear (and the chicken he wore as pants). But when Bart is stealing from Marge's purse, he is dressed.
- When Moe tries to comfort Marge, his hand briefly cuts off and is incompletely drawn.
- The gag is also inconsistent with the layout of the house, and previous and later episodes have established that the room directly behind the garage is the seldom-seen rumpus room.
- Homer finds a three-chambered peanut where the three chambers are facing in different directions. Three-chambered peanuts actually do exist in real life, but the three chambers are actually all facing the same direction and are attached in the same direction as the chambers of regular two-chambered peanuts.
- When Eddie the cop (as Curtis E. Bear) was being bludgeoned with 2x4's at traffic school, Krusty the Clown's nose was the same color as his skin before Agnes knocked Eddie down.
- In this episode, Homer is disgusted enough by Mrs. Krabappel's balloon striptease to shoplift concessions as a result, but in "Bart the Lover" he was the one who drooled over her lingerie picture that she sent to "Woodrow". He may have been disgusted over the fact that she's performing a striptease in what is ostensibly a family-friendly variety show. Or maybe he realized that she doesn't look as good naked as the photo suggests, as heard in his line, "I saw Krabappel's butt. I paid!"
- When Homer is talking to Bart while Marge uses her new headlights, Bart's legs disappear when he is talking.
- When Homer is driving in the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant parking lot, all the Canyonero windows are tinted, but when he starts talking to Lenny and Carl, the windows are transparent.
- Homer's "NBC sucks" comments over the closing credits are not captioned.
- After Chief Clancy Wiggum tells Marge to get out of his sight, the captions say that Lisa is saying “Oh” instead of Marge.
