Cultural References[]
- The episode title is a parody of the film Married to the Mob. The 17th Treehouse of Horror segment has the exact same name.
- PonPonPon by Kyary Pamyu Pamyu was played during the love montage between Jeffery Albertson and Kumiko.
- Numerous references of Hayao Miyazaki's films were made during the effects of the Cobra Rice Wine:
- Kiki's Delivery Service: Patty and Selma ressemble Kiki. Jiji the cat is on Selma's broom, a reference to the fact that in the dubbed version of the movie, the cat was voiced by the late Phil Hartman, who voiced Lionel Hutz and Troy McClure, who were Selma's former husbands.
- Spirited Away: The overall background and the ghosts ressemble the village near the bathhouse. Chief Wiggum is in the form of a pig, like Chihiro's parents. No-Face can be seen several times. Smithers is Aogaeru the toad, Kearney's son is Boh (Yubaba's baby) and Agnes Skinner is Yubaba the Witch.
- Ponyo: Ralph is Ponyo.
- Howl's Moving Castle: The Kwik-E-Mart takes on the form of a moving building, very much like Howl's castle. Moe is Turnip Head, the Scarecrow.
- My Neighbor Totoro: Otto is in the form of a bus cat.
- Princess Mononoke: Krusty is Jigo, the monk. The Kodama (the little spirits in the forest) can be seen outside the Department of Magical Vehicules.
- The chalkboard gag "Judas Priest is not 'death metal'" is a reference to the band being extremely stereotyped as "death metal" in the previous episode, "Steal This Episode".
- The scene where the children are playing on the playground was reused from the episode "A Test Before Trying".
- The couch gag has the Season 3 end credits theme.
- The Death of Radioactive Man is a parody of The Death of Superman.
- In the comic book store, there is a Krusty frozen in carbonite as Han Solo is in The Empire Strikes Back.
- On The Death of Radioactive Man's cover, the two world leaders mourning his death are Barack Obama of the USA and Queen Elizabeth II of the UK.
- During the scene outside the Android Dungeon, clocks indicate time Vulcan, Kripton (if it lived) and Bizarro Earth.
