Cultural References
- The episode title is a parody of the film Married to the Mob. The Treehouse of Horror segment has the exact same name
- PonPonPon by Kyary Pamyu Pamyu was played during the love montage between Jeffery Albertson and Kumiko.
- Numerous references of Hayao Miyazaki's films were made during the effects of the Cobra Rice Wine.
- In one of the references Patty and Selma reference Kiki's Delivery Service and the cat is on Selma's broom. This is a reference to the fact that in the dubbed version of the movie, the cat was voiced by the late Phil Hartman, who voiced Lionel Hutz and Troy McClure, who were Selma's former husbands.
- The chalkboard gag "Judas Priest is not 'Death Metal'" is a reference to the band being extremely stereotyped as "death metal" in the previous episode, "Steal This Episode".
- The scene where the children are playing on the playground was reused from the episode "A Test Before Trying".
- The Death of Radioactive Man is a parody of The Death of Superman.
- In the comic book store, there is a Krusty frozen in carbonite as Han Solo is in Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back.
- On The Death of Radioactive Man's cover, the two world leaders mourning his death are Barack Obama of the USA and Queen Elizabeth II of the UK.

Continuity
- When Kumiko first meets Homer, she asks him if he knows he looks just like the man on the box of Mr. Sparkle which was first seen in the episode "In Marge We Trust" .
- Milhouse mentions that he was once casted to play Fallout Boy in movie which happened in "Radioactive Man".
Goofs
- Albertson mentioned only one copy per customer, but Homer bought two. Although it could be that Milhouse and Bart wanted the comics.
- Before the double date -outside the comic book store- the color of Marge's dress changes from red, to purple.
- During Radioactive Man's first line, his mouth doesn't move.
