Matthew David "Matt" Selman (born September 9, 1971 in Watertown, Massachusetts) is an American writer who has written several episodes for The Simpsons. Selman was one of eleven writers that worked on The Simpsons Movie. He is the current showrunner of the series since Season 33.

Early Life[]

Selman grew up in Watertown, Massachusetts. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1993 after majoring in history. He was editor in chief of the magazine 34th Street Magazine and had an internship at the Philadelphia.

Career[]

He co-wrote for a Seinfeld episode after sending sample material out for two years. In 1997, he joined the Simpsons and is currently an executive producer.

He is writing the screenplay for a film adaptation of Ricky Gervais's Flanimals.

He created the Icebox animated superhero comedy web-series Superhero Roommate in 2000.

Starting in Season 23, Selman started to co-run episodes with Al Jean on The Simpsons. However, by Season 33, Jean stepped down from being full-time showrunner, though still would work part-time under the role. Selman replaced him as full-time showrunner since then.
