It means that the Infobox at the top of a character's page is not going to have an "Age=" line any more. It may still be there on a character's page, but it's not going to do anything. There's a few reasons why we're going to deactivate it:
Most of the time, a character's age is not listed in an episode.
If it is said or shown, sometimes a different episode will list a different age.
The characters are all the same age they were back in 1989, but episodes include people and things that would technically be in their future, such as President Obama and iPads. So time passes for them, yet they don't age.
People editing here see the age line in the Infobox and think, "That character was born, they got older to be how they are shown in the episode, so therefore they must have an age. I'll make one up for them."
Other people will change it to a different age, and sometimes there is an edit war as people keep changing the age all around.
For the few characters where it is documented that they have one or more ages, that's going to be moved to a different spot on their page and we are going to require the episode, book, magazine or other media be referenced as proof of that age. Otherwise, all age information is going to be removed.
