Continuity[]
- She Biscuit appears. ("The Way of the Dog").
- Mona Simpson appeared as a doctor while claiming Bart is "his" grandson in a flashback that takes place during the flashback from I Married Marge.
- Homer previously had a photo of him and Mona taken from Itchy and Scratchy Land in My Mother the Carjacker. Except that in the aforementioned episode it was taken offscreen during the events of that episode but in this one it is taken from Homer's childhood.
- Homer also had a photo of his mother taken from her youth in How I Wet Your Mother.
Cultural References[]
- Muttflix is based off of DOGTV, a premium TV channel that is the first channel specifically for dogs, featuring three types of programming - stimulation, relaxation, and exposure, as well as Netflix.
- One scene on Muttflix shows Fox News with foxes as the hosts.
- Game of Bones is a parody of Game of Thrones.
- A KISS Army poster is seen in Homer's room.
- The name "Texxon" is a combination of two petroleum companies - Texaco and Exxon.
Trivia[]
- Part of the scene where Bart skateboards naked during The Simpsons Movie is shown while Bart is flipping channels.
- Homer drives a Starliner Commander in this episode. The car appeared in Barthood and Love Is in the N2-O2-Ar-CO2-Ne-He-CH4. In the latter episode Grampa also drove the car to look for Mona Simpson.
Goofs[]
- This episode reveals that Homer knew his mother was alive since he recieved a postcard from her at age 16. This contradicts the events of Mother Simpson where Homer just found out she's alive and didn't know about the packages she sent him every week because he refused to tip the letter carrier. If he found out she *was* alive then he wouldn't have thought she was dead until 1995.
- Also in My Mother the Carjacker Homer stated that Mona missed her grandson's birth but in this episode he reveals (which he had never told anyone) that Mona visited them in the hospital when Bart was born and thus she knew she had a grandson already. So if Homer did remember that then we would've already known that she actually didn't miss it.
