Mothra is a Japanese movie monster.

History

When the Simpsons leave Tokyo Mothra attacks their plane, alongside Godzilla, Rodan and Gamera. According to the pilot, Mothra was the only threat to the plane besides Godzilla himself, although she was being held up by Rodan and Gamera.

Behind the Laughter

• Mothra is a character in the Godzilla films, though she originally appeared in her own solo movie.
• The airplane pilot erroneously refers to Mothra as male, when she's actually female.
• Marge appeared as Mothra in the Bartzilla level in Bart's Nightmare.
