Dr. Hobbes is a father of Juliet Hobbes who Lisa befriends in "Lisa the Drama Queen". He is a professor at Springfield University.

When Dr. Hobbes got a job at university, the Hobbes family moved to Springfield. The Simpson family later went to the Hobbes house. Juliet and Lisa wanted to play Josh Groban's 12 most popular downloads, but Dr. Hobbes decided to listen to James Horner's soundtrack to The Pelican Brief instead because he thought Juliet was growing an obsession with Groban. Juliet got angry and ran away. Homer then asked him to take a look at a lump on his back. Dr. Hobbes told him that he isn't that kind of doctor, but after receiving 10 dollars he found a chewing gum on Homer's back.
