Mt. Useful is a mountain that is outside of Springfield.

Mr. Burns orders the faculty and staff of the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant to partake in a team race at the mountain in an attempt to promote teamwork with a forced requirement: the last team to reach the cabin would be fired.[1]
The mountain has two cabins: a ranger's station, and another to host functions. However, that cabin is located in a noise-susceptible avalanche zone. At the Mt Useful Visitor's Center, park-goers can find out more about the mountain's ecology.
Outside of a music festival held every March, the mountain lacks activities and programs to entice more people to see the area, due to budget cuts. The budget cuts can also help explain the park's outdated and potentially dangerous chairlifts.
