Cultural References[]
- The title of this episode is a reference to the 1985 film My Life as a Dog.
- YouTube is the main setting of the episode, as the scenes appear as videos.
- Game of D'ohs is a parody of Game of Thrones. The person who watched the videos about the Simpson family is also George R.R. Martin (who is voiced by Dan Castellaneta), the author of the fantasy novel.
- Maker's Moe is a parody of Maker's Mark.
- A plumbob from "The Sims" franchise can be seen in a video thumbnail.
- Deep Fried Thoughts is a parody of the YouTube spicy food talk show Hot Ones.
- Mike Wegman's conspiracy video is a parody of the 2007 video called "Leave Britney Alone".
- The Nom-Noms are an obvious parody of the Minions.
Episode references[]
- Kwyjibo is shown while playing Scrabble, a 33-year callback to the second-ever episode, "Bart the Genius".
- The username 'Know Homers Club' is a reference to the 'No Homers Club' from the season 6 episode "Homer the Great".
Trivia[]
- This episode was dedicated to music editor Chris Ledesma, who passed away in December 2022.
- This is the first episode to air in 2023 and also the first to air on New Year.
- Milhouse was the one who filmed the Simpsons family videos. Here, the family disrespected him. Unedited footage text is shown at the bottom. It is also shown in the staged Maggie video.
- The Simpson family videos shown by Martin were, ironically, staged according to Milhouse, as well as Lenny and Carl:
- The 'Gurt Squad kids were just three of Cletus' sons in disguise that Bart paid for.
- Lisa's video was also staged. Prior to the filming, the "hideous" beach that appeared in the video looked completely clean. Milhouse had been forced by Lisa to hire people, one of them being Gil, to make the beach look horrible. Her rescue of a seal was also staged as they had purposely tied the sea animal in copper wire. The seal can be shown trying to flee into the sea before being tackled by the hired people.
- The Nom-Noms incident video severed connections between Maggie and Homer, as the Maggie in the video where he showed her new toy castle, was apparently a doll with marionette-like movements, controlled by Marge. It can be shown that the doll's head fell off.
- There are subtle differences between the introduction video of the Simpson family and Milhouse's unedited take:
- Sky Showcase (formerly Sky One) in the UK showed the episode unedited/uncensored and features the word "bitch" in Shauna's vlog.
